Types of  Feeding Tubes

  • Nasogastric Tube (NGT): A short-term tube placed through the nose into the stomach for feeding or medication delivery.
  • Nasoduodenal Tube (NDT): A tube inserted through the nose into the duodenum to reduce aspiration risk.
  • Nasojejunal Tube (NJT): A nasal tube that delivers nutrition directly into the jejunum for patients who cannot tolerate gastric feeding.
  • Gastrostomy Tube (G-Tube/PEG): A long-term feeding tube placed directly into the stomach through the abdominal wall.
  • Gastrojejunostomy Tube (GJ-Tube): A tube providing jejunal feeding with gastric access for decompression.
  • Jejunostomy Tube (J-Tube): A long-term tube placed directly into the jejunum for patients at high risk of aspiration.
