Eprenetapopt

Eprenetapopt (also called APR-246) is an investigational drug designed to restore the normal function of mutated TP53, a tumor suppressor gene commonly altered in high-risk myelodysplastic syndromes (MDS) and acute myeloid leukemia (AML).

• Mechanism: It reactivates mutant p53 protein, promoting apoptosis (programmed cell death) in cancer cells.
• Use: Being studied in combination with azacitidine in TP53-mutated MDS or AML.
• Status: Not yet FDA-approved; available in clinical trials.
