A nucleoside analogue used in the treatment of chronic hepatitis B for patients with active viral replication, histological evidence of active disease, or persistent elevations in liver transaminases. It works by inhibiting the replication of the virus, thereby reducing its levels in the body. Entecavir is effective for patients with active viral replication and elevated liver enzymes. Common side effects can include headache, fatigue, and dizziness.
